Hey Days 2012 Program Questionnaire

Please submit by July 10, 2012 (sooner is great).

Please indicate the classes you are most likely to attend. You can change your mind later; this is to help us make initial decisions about where classes will be held.

If you have been notified that you were selected to participate in the English Dance Musicians Course, you are already signed up for attending the Musicians Course with Shira during class periods 1 and 2. If you are in the Musicians Course, we encourage you to participate in other classes during the afternoon periods. Those classes provide more opportunities for playing music or singing, as well as opportunities to dance (it is very beneficial for musicians to understand ECD from a dancer’s perspective as well).

Remember, we can’t promise a conflict-free schedule. In fact, it’s our job to make the class options as appealing and exciting as possible, and it’s your job to make hard choices and to pace yourself.

Musicians:
If you plan to attend music workshops (other than the Musicians Course with Shira) and/or play for campers’ night, please indicate:

Callers:
The program for the Campers’ Night dance will be set by Tuesday morning so the musicians have time to form bands, learn and practice tunes and get coaching during the band workshop and the musicians' course. The goal for campers’ night is a program of accessible and/or familiar dances with easy tunes from red or blue Barnes. We want everyone to relax and have fun!

To facilitate an easy-going Camper Night, we're doing something different this year. Callers will have a list of more-or-less standard dances (depending on your home dance's repertoire) from which to choose. We will send the list out prior to camp to anyone who tells us they are interested in calling a dance on Camper Night. Come to camp ready to indicate which of the dances you'd most like to lead. That information will be gathered at Monday lunch.

If you have a burning need to call a dance that is not on the list, contact Mary Devlin to discuss what you’d like to do. Do this at camp before Monday noon, or in advance of camp by email or phone (mary@mdevlin.com / 503-236-8062). All the dances for Camper Night must have easy music. If the tune your off-list dance uses is not in Barnes, you’ll need to bring at least 12 copies of the tune to camp.
