Saturday, February 2
Out in San Francisco's Sunset district (at SF), Seattle caller John Gallagher calls contras with music by those The Guppies (Kathrine Gardner, Jim Oakden and Craig Johnson).

Every Wednesday, there's dancing at GNC in Berkeley. For tonight's contra, Elizabeth Douglas is your caller, with music by The KJammers (Kathrine Gardner, Dan Kluger, Mark Kartman).

Friday, February 8
The 2nd Friday Berkeley contra at FIN is on the early side this month, but features Kirston Koths calling with music by the amazing duo Stump Tail Dog (Dan Engle & Ray Frank).

Sunday, February 10
& Did you know BACDS sponsors square and contra dancing in a single series? Come check it out at the 2nd Sunday El Cerrito dance at ECV, starting at 7pm. Series host Jim Saxe will be calling tonight, with fine Southern tunes by Judy Stavely, and Dan & Karen Warrick.

Wednesday, February 13
The second Wednesday English dance at GNC, with special guest caller Tom Roby and music by Jon Berger, Dick Bagwell, Chuck Ward. Don't miss it!

Berkeley's fourth Saturday English dance for experienced dancers at GNC features Tom Roby calling with the quartet of Charlie Hancock, Avis Minger, Anise Feldman and Robert Hill.

Sunday, February 24
The Playford Ball is drawing nigh, and this afternoon is the first of three Playford Ball Workshops, giving anyone interested a chance to run through the dances on this year's program. David Newitt will walk through the dances and teach some of the finer points, Charlie Hancock & friends will provide the music. It's from 2 to 5pm at ECV, admission is $7. Stay for potluck supper and the El Cerrito Contra & Squares later that evening.

& ... And it's not just a regular dance at ECV: it's the 11th anniversary of the series, with the far-famed Cavalcade of Callers (many of your local favorites) calling, and music by the community band Hell Broke Loose in Berkeley (musicians--contact Kathrine Gardner at 650-726-3495 to join the band). As noted above, there's a potluck dinner beforehand at 5:30.

Wednesday, February 27
