BACDS March 2013 Electronic Mailing
BACDS sponsors English and American traditional dances in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is fun, relatively easy, community-oriented dancing with live music. All dances are taught, no partner is necessary, and first-timers are welcome unless otherwise noted.

It's almost 3 camps in one with separate tracks for Contra dance, English Country, music/singing/calling/choreography! We've got nationally known exciting callers Sue Rosen, Susan Kevra, and Gary Roodman, plus two incredible bands: The Syncopaths (Jeff Spero, Ryan McKasson, Ashley Broder, Christa Burch) and Goldcrest (Dave Wiesler, Daron Douglas, and Paul Oorts). And we're not done yet! Join us for a high-energy weekend of music and dance that puts the awesome in Hot Contra dancing and Exuberant English dancing. Thrill to workshops that challenge newcomer and experienced dancers alike.

Workshops are Saturday, March 2 (Berkeley), Sunday, March 10 (Palo Alto), and Sunday, March 24 (Sacramento). Rehearsal dance is Friday, March 29 (Hayward).

Every year, BACDS teams and others join in a world-wide celebration to dance the Sun up and celebrate the 1st of May.
In the Bay Area you'll find us that Wednesday morn in Sebastopol, San Francisco, Berkeley, Palo Alto, and Santa Cruz, with lots
of dancing the whole weekend long. It's an age-old tradition! We've been doing it for decades, and the Sun keeps
coming up, so we must be doing something right. Come out and join us!

Join us for San Francisco's own Contra Dance weekend at the Janet Pomeroy Center on Skyline Drive, between the SF Zoo and Lake Merced, just a short walk from the ocean. Experience the cool of summer in San Francisco! Enjoy music by Perpetual eMotion and The Moving Violations, with calling by Lisa Greenleaf and Erik Weberg. Registration open March 18. Hey Days 2013
Sunday - Sunday, August 18-25, 2013, Bishop's Ranch
Join us August 18-25, 2013 for Hey Days English Dance and Music Week at the Bishop's Ranch in the Wine Country of Northern California. Near Healdsburg, Dance staff includes Andrew Shaw, Scott Higgs, Kalia Kliban, and Adrienne Simpson. Music by Childgrove, Persons of Quality, Wayne Hankin, and Charlie Hancock. Special callers course with Scott Higgs. Registration form will be live in January. Lottery postmark deadline is March 19 (March 5 for Callers Course).
