The Ball

Annie Laskey co-founded and runs Culver City English Country dance, now in its eighth year.  She first encountered English Country Dancing at Southern Renaissance Pleasure Faire back in 1979, when she apprenticed to one of the dance groups.  Losing sight of dance for many years, she found ECD again in 2000 (after a couple of years' flirtation with Scottish Country Dancing) and soon after became an ECD caller, then a dance producer.

As a CDSS Board member from 2005-2008, she has danced in communities from Arkansas to Oregon.  So far, her favorite out of town calling gig has been as shipboard dance leader for Ken McFarland's 2011 trip along the Dalmatian coast of Croatia. For her day job, she runs a walking tour program of historic architecture in downtown Los Angeles.

Bangers and Mash are Susan Kramer (flute, recorders, vocals and percussion), Stanley Kramer (violin, recorder, string bass), David Strong (violin, viola), and Craig Johnson (piano, accordion, and other keyboards).

The band has been delighting Bay Area dancers since 1994, performing music for English Country and historical couple dance events.  Favorites for PEERS (the Period Events and Entertainment Recreation Society) and BACDS, they regularly perform for formal balls and innumerable dance series.  They're also a "winter tradition" as the house band for Fezziwig's Warehouse, the community dance stage at the Great Dickens Christmas Fair.
