History:

The original Fall Ball was created in 1995 as a less formal alternative to the Playford Ball.  The original committee was Karen Wetmore (later Gryciewicz), David Newitt, Helena Ivatt and Anne Miller-Bagwell.  It was so much fun that many of the original gang of 4 are still involved with it.

Here's some of what we've done in the past:

  • 2002 - "A movable feast" - the ball moves, the fun doesn't; James Hutson caller
  • 2001 - "A Tricentquinquagenary Celebration: a 350th Anniversary Salute to the Dancing Master" - a historical tour of Playford dances over the years; Jody McGeen caller
  • 2000 - "A Roodman Awakening" - a showcase of Gary Roodman dances; Jenny Beer caller
  • 1999 - "New Wine in Old Bottles" - modern reinterpretations of traditional dances; Lise Dyckman caller
  • 1998 - "For Hume The Dance Calls" - a showcase of Colin Hume dances; Bob Fraley caller
  • 1997 - "The Best of the Bay"- highlighting dances from local Bay Area composers; Alisa Dodson caller
  • 1996 - "Oh P'Shaw 2" - in movie parlance: the sequel; David Newitt caller
  • 1995 - "Oh P'Shaw" - a salute to Pat Shaw; David Newitt caller
