Come Let’s Be Merry — 3-couple longways set (3/4, D)
Young, The Dancing Master, 1727

A1   1s face up and, taking inside hands, lead round to each other's places and honor the 2s. Change hands and repeat to home.
A2   1s cast to middle place, 2s moving up, then cast to bottom place, 3s moving up.
B1   1s lead (or waltz) to the top, then cast to middle place, 3s moving down.
B2   Taking hands six, all balance straight forward, then diagonally left backward. Do this three times, to the opposite side of the set, then turn partner two-hand halfway, to new place.
Repeat with 3s active, then 2s.

Dorset Triumph — Longways duple (2/2, A)
Described in Thomas Hardy’s "Under the Greenwood Tree" 1872
Kennedy, Community Dances Manual, 1949-1967
A   2nd corners set & turn single. 1st corners repeat.
B   2nd man lead 1st woman down the center right hand while 1st man casts off and dances down the outside. All three turn and lead up "in triumph," (woman between the men with her arms are apart and holding their outside hands, and their inside hands are joined in an arch high over her head - an Arch d' Triumph) the 2nd man falling into place.
C   2s, followed by 1s, lead down right hand, women turn under their partners’ arms, and all lead back. 1s cast off while 2s lead up.

Fair and Softly — Longways duple (3/2, Dm)

A   Facing partner, women set right and left while men set left and right.  1s cast below 2s (who move up), lead between the next 2s, and cast up to 2nd place and face up.
B1   Circular hey, taking hands for two changes, no hands on the third change, and both hands to partner for 1/2 turn. 2s lead down through 1s and cast up to place, facing the next 1s.
B2   Repeat with that couple, 2s leading up through the new 1s and casting down.

B2   Lead out to wall, and lead in again. 1s lead up, cross over, and cast; while 2s wait and cross over.

  5-8 2nd corners repeat.
A2 1-8 1st corners back-to-back, then 2nd corners.
B Hand clapping:
  1 Clap own hands twice; with right diagonal clap right hand once.
  2 Clap own hands twice; with left diagonal clap left hand once.
  3 Clap own hands once, right hand with partner once; clap own hands once, left hand with partner once.
  4 Clap own hands twice; clap both hands with partner.
  5-8 Repeat.
B2 1-4 Circle left 1-1/2 times (to original place).
  5-8 Half poussette clockwise to new place (continuing in the direction of the circle).

B2   Circle left once round, 1s lead up and cast down.

Originally a quadrille figure; now traditional
A1   Men dance behind partner, balance & swing the next woman.
A2   Men retrace steps, balance & swing partner.
B1   1s keep swinging.
B2   1s visit the other couples, starting with the couple on the right.
A3   Head couples change places, 1s going between 3rd. Turn as couples and come back, the other couple going inside.
A4   Repeat
B3   All circle left with polka step.
B4   All promenade home, still with polka step.
Repeat, with each couple in turn leading.

A1 1-4 1st corners dance a half figure-8: cast to left behind neighbor, pass each other left shoulder in center, right shoulder around partner to change places (this is fast).
A2 1-4 2nd corners repeat opposite (behind partner, pass each other right shoulder, left shoulder around neighbor - All are now diagonally opposite from where they started).
B1 1-4 All fall back, cross to own sides, and loop right to face partner.
  5-8 4 changes of a circular hey, without hands, partners facing.
B2 1 1st corner people (in 2nd corner places) change.
  2 Others change.
  3-4 All circle left once round.
  5-8 1s cast off and turn two-hand to own side, while 2s move up the center, turning with two-hand to own side.

A 1-4 1s turn right hand halfway and cast to the ends of a line of 4 facing up.
  5-6 All balance back, then take 1 waltz step forward to 1st place.
  7-8 1s gate 2s up and around, propelling them into…
  9-12 2s half figure eight up through 1s.
  13-16 1s half figure eight down through 2s (All are now home, but 2s are improper).
B 1-4 Neighbors face, set, and change places right shoulder turning single (as in Trip to Paris, except end facing partner).
  5-8 Partners the same, but end close to partner.
  9-16 Waltz counter clockwise once around the other couple to progressed place; then open up proper and with a new couple.
