Admissions Policies

Completed Registrations will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis where practicable. A registration is complete when we have both the registration form and payment in hand.

We reserve the right to give preference to people who volunteer to help run the event, whether or not they choose to take the work-trade discount.

Some attention will be paid to gender balance, but only to make sure it does not get seriously out of hand. We would prefer not to use gender as a basis for preferential admission, but we also don't want the balance to be so far out of hand that people don't have a good time. See our gender-balance policy statement for a more complete explanation.

Those of you in the gender-free dance community may register a preferred dance role (lead/follow/both) instead of (or in addition to) the traditional (sex-lined) gender. Registering as "both" means that you won't be counted on either side of the gender balance equation. It also means that you are willing to dance whatever role is most needed. If the weekend does end up with a strong gender imbalance, you may expect to dance the minority gender role most of the time. Registering as "both" will not improve your chances of admission.

Couples and larger groups who wish to register together may specify that by writing in each other's names in the "I am registering with" box on the form. Every effort will be made to ensure that the entire group is admitted together. There is no particular advantage to registering as a couple or group, and there may be a disadvantage, because the group registration will not be marked complete until all members of the group have sent in registration forms and payments.

We reserve the right to refuse registration or admission to anyone whose behavior has been judged by the BACDS Board or by the event manager to be disruptive, harassing, or dangerous.
