BET--Bethany United Methodist Church, 1268 Sanchez (at Clipper), San Francisco. New home for the 2nd Saturday English dance, 7:30pm.

ECV--El Cerrito Veterans' Hall, 6401 Stockton at Kearney, El Cerrito. 2nd and 4th Sundays East Bay Square/Contra dance, 7pm

FCC--Fairfax Community Church, 2398 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., Fairfax. 4th Saturday contradances

FIN--Finn Hall, 1819 Tenth Street (near Hearst, off University), Berkeley. 2nd Friday contradances

MT--Masonic Temple, 461 Florence St. (near University), Palo Alto. 1st, 3rd and 5th Friday English dances

NGC--North Grace Church (formerly the Northern Fellowship Meeting House), 2138 Cedar St. (near Oxford), Berkeley. Dancing every Wednesday: contras on 1st, 3rd and 5th, English on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. Also the 4th Saturday experienced English dance

PA--Mid-Peninsula YWCA, 4161 Alma Street (near San Antonio Rd.), Palo Alto. 2nd, 4th and 5th Saturday contradances.

SF--St. Paul's Church, 43rd Avenue @ Judah Street, San Francisco. contras on 1st and 3rd Saturdays, 4th Fridays

SJS--First Christian Church, 80 South 5th Street, San José. 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesday English dancing, September through June.

SMT--San Mateo Masonic Temple, 100 North Ellsworth at Tilton, San Mateo. BACDS' 3rd Annual Fall Ball.

Saturday, November 1

Start your month off right with a contradance at SF. Kirston Koths calls to the New world Gallic music of Québecquasi (Kevin Carr, John Hamstra, Caroline Cirimele, Barbara Mendelsohn, Laurie Rivin, Daniel Steinberg).

Wednesday, November 5

The Berkeley contra at GNC. Erik Hoffman calling, with an Open Band led by The Road Oilers (John Pedersen, Perry Fly, Mike Drayton)

And in San José at SJS, Jody McGeen & Alan Winston lead English dancing, to the wonderful music of Kay Thorne and Stan Kramer.

Friday, November 7

The first Friday English dance at Palo Alto's downtown MT. Bob Fraley leads the dance to the music of Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer) .

Saturday, November 8

Contra at Palo Alto at PA with Eric Black and Suzy's Floozies (Suzy Thompson, Kate Brislin, & Maxine Gerber).

The SF English dance starts at 7:30 at BET features Bob Fraley Ruth Anne Fraley, Kimberly McKittrick, David Newitt

Sunday, November 9

HAMBO workshop at ECV features Toby Blomé & Tom Sears teaching how to do this popular Swedish turning dance, with music by Fred Bialy (3:30-5:30 pm; $5.00 admission).

The second Sunday East Bay square and contra at ECV follows at 7pm. Jim Saxe calls to the music of dotGals (Susan Sullivan, Karen Warrick, Kathy Hirsh, and Adam Cavan).

Wednesday, November 12

English dancing in Berkeley at GNC, with Anise Feldman & Lise Dyckman teaming up to call the dance, Charlie Hancock, Jon Berger, Mark Carroll serve up the music.

Friday, November 14

2nd Friday contradance at FIN, with caller Kirston Koths. Music by The Moving Cloud Orchestra in its original lineup--Paul Kotapish, Paul Machlis, and Sara Hiebert (now of Philly). Wow!

Saturday, November 15

The SF contra at SF features Charlie Fenton appearing with The Moving Cloud Orchestra.

Wednesday, November 19

At GNC in Berkeley, Jim Saxe calls contras with an Open Band led by Paul Kotapish and Sara Hiebert.

The San Jose English dance at SJS has guest caller Joyce Uggla and music by the wonderful series stalwarts Kay Thorne and Stan Kramer.

Friday, November 21

Palo Alto English dance at MT, with Bob Fraley calling to the music of Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer) .

Saturday, November 22

The 4th Saturday Fairfax contra at FCC; Ken Olcott calls to those dotGals (Susan Sullivan, Karen Warrick, Kathy Hirsh, and Adam Cavan).

The regularly scheduled experienced English dance at GNC has been CANCELLED. See you at the Fall Ball!

The Fall Ball at "SMT" starts as David Newitt leads a walkthrough of all the dances at 2:30 pm--Charlie Hancock and Kathrine Gardner provide the playthrough.

Then at 8pm, Alisa Dodson conducts "The Best of the Bay", Third Annual Fall Ball to the music of Kimberly McKittrick, Avis Minger, Craig Johnson and Jim Oakden.Single admission for both workshop and ball: $15 before 11/12, $18 after.

Finally, the contra at PA features Erik Hoffman, and in their final BACDS appearance this time, the Moving Cloud Orchestra (Paul Kotapish, Paul Machlis, and Sara Hiebert)

Sunday, November 23

Fourth Sunday Square and Contra at ECV with Erik Hoffman calling, Chris Knepper & Charlie Hancock playing.

Wednesday, November 26

Berkeley English dance at GNC featuring David Newitt calling and the stunningly talented trio of Chuck Ward, Danny Carnahan and Allen Dodson.

Friday, November 28

A contra with an Irish lilt at SF! Charlie Fenton calls to the music of Tipsy House (Jack Gilder, Chris Knepper and Craig Johnson

Saturday, November 29

End up the month with the traditional Thanksgiving Dessert Potluck at PA, as Eric Black calls to the music of Craig Johnson, Paul Kotapish & friend--Bring a treat to share--but no turkey!
