BET--Bethany United Methodist Church, 1268 Sanchez (at Clipper), San Francisco. New home for the 2nd Saturday English dance, 7:30pm.

ECV--El Cerrito Veterans' Hall, 6401 Stockton at Kearney, El Cerrito. 2nd and 4th Sundays East Bay Square/Contra dance, 7pm

FCC--Fairfax Community Church, 2398 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., Fairfax. 4th Saturday contradances

FIN--Finn Hall, 1819 Tenth Street (near Hearst, off University), Berkeley. 2nd Friday contradances

MT--Masonic Temple, 461 Florence St. (near University), Palo Alto. 1st, 3rd and 5th Friday English dances

NGC--North Grace Church (formerly the Northern Fellowship Meeting House), 2138 Cedar St. (near Oxford), Berkeley. Dancing every Wednesday: contras on 1st, 3rd and 5th, English on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. Also the 4th Saturday experienced English dance

PA--Mid-Peninsula YWCA, 4161 Alma Street (near San Antonio Rd.), Palo Alto. 2nd, 4th and 5th Saturday contradances.

SF--St. Paul's Church, 43rd Avenue @ Judah Street, San Francisco. contras on 1st and 3rd Saturdays, 4th Fridays

SJS--First Christian Church, 80 South 5th Street, San José. 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesday English dancing, September through June.

SRB--Scottish Rite Ballroom, 1547 Lakeside Drive (south end of Lake Merritt), Oakland. BACDS' 11th Annual No Snow Ball.

Wednesday, December 3

Contra at NGC: Andy Wilson calls to the music of an Open Band led by The Compound Meters (Robin Flower, Libby McLaren, & Erik Hoffman).

The San José English dance at "SJ" features Jody McGeen & Alisa Dodson teaching dances, with delightful music by Kay Thorne and Stan Kramer.

Friday, December 5

The Palo Alto English dance at MT. Special guest caller David Newitt and the music of Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer) .

Saturday, December 6

Celebrate the season at the 1th Annual No Snow Ball at SRB, with Santa Claus and Jim "Sacks of Toys" Saxe calling, and music by The Five Scrooges (Ray Bierl, Kevin Carr, Jim Oakden, Daniel Steinberg and special guest Cathie Whitesides). Refreshments provided, festive attire, 7:30pm-11:30pm, admission $17.00 ($14.00 w/BACDS card)

Wednesday, December 10

The second Wednesday English dance at NGC--Alisa Dodson calls to the music of Charlie Hancock, Anise Feldman, and David Strong.

Friday, December 12

A classic combination for the 2nd Friday East Bay contra at FIN: caller Kirston Koths and Hillbillies From Mars (Ray Bierl, Kevin Carr, Paul Kotapish, & Daniel Steinberg)!

Saturday, December 13

The Palo Alto contra at PA convenes, presided over by Eric Black who calls to the music of Sidesaddle (Lee Anne Welch, Jerry Ashford, Kim Elking, Beth McNamara, & Dave Ristrom).

The San Francisco English dance at BET begins at 7:30pm and features Lise Dyckman teaching dances with music by Laurie Edelman, David Strong and friends.

Sunday, December 14

& It's second Sunday, so come dance squares and contras in the East Bay at ECV. Jim Saxe calls to the all-star, all-string music of Brendan Doyle, W.B. Reid, & Alan Senauke.

Wednesday, December 17

Berkeley contra at NGC. Seriesmeister Erik Hoffman calls the dances while the tunes are called by an Open Band led by Ladies' Chain Smokers (Patti Walters, Deirdre Lynds, and Rebecca King).

The San José English dance at "SJ". Jody McGeen presides over a Christmas Party dance. Music by Kay Thorne and Stan Kramer.

Friday, December 19

The Palo Alto English dance and Christmas Party at MT features Bob Fraley & Lise Dyckman teaching dances with great music by Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer)

Saturday, December 20

The San Francisco contra returns to its regular site at SF and features Charlie Fenton calling to the music of The Contrabandits (Kathrine Gardner, Chris Knepper, Charlie Hancock, and Kit Nelson) .

Wednesday, December 24

The English dance which would normally take place at NGC has been CANCELLED

Friday, December 26

The 4th Friday Sf contra at SF features Erik Hoffman calling with tunes by Chuck Aronson, Ray Bierl, and Rebecca King.

Saturday, December 27

Fairfax contra at FCC with regular series programmer Stuart Moody and the début of The Hillside Country Dance Band (Pat and Anson Young, Gregory Wilson, Erik Hoffman).

There'll always be an England, a Boxing Day, and accordians to celebrate it. Come to GNC in Berkeley as Anise Feldman presides over a Boxing Day Party with Those Swell Bellows Fellows (Mark Carroll, David Mostardi & friends)

The Palo Alto contradance has been CANCELLED--Happy Holidays.

Sunday, December 28

& Get ready to ring out the old at BACDS last dance of the year: the Square/contra at ECV. Caller Erik Hoffman and the rest of The Compound Meters (Robin Flower, Libby McLaren, & Erik Hoffman).

Wednesday, December 31

No New Year's dancing here--GNC and SJS are both CANCELLED!
(Check out Sacramento's Contra Dance: 7:30pm to 12:30 am at Westminister Church Hall, 1300 N Street. For more info, call Claudia at 916/967-5634.)
