Date: Mon, 10 Jun 2013 22:46:55 -0700 To: AmWeek 2013 Campers From: Eric Black Subject: [Amweek2013-campers] T-minus 20 days and counting! Good morning, Campers! [For those of you who have not yet been to AmWeek, that's something you'll hear each morning when it's time for announcements. And even if it's NOT morning!] This is the first in a series of information emails to tell you What You Need To Know. You can also find all this information on the AmWeek web site at http://AmWeek.org/Campers * This email and all other messages sent to this camper list are collected on the email archive at http://www.bacds.org/mailman/listinfo/amweek2013-campers If you've registered recently, you might want to look back at previous messages sent to campers that you missed.Ê Look particularly for messages from program staff with advance information about classes at camp, and things for you to bring or prepare to get the most out of our outstanding staff. If you want to send an email message to all your fellow AmWeek 2013 campers (the ones who gave us their email address), you can send it to: (replace the "-at-" with "@") This is the easy way for you to send a message to all your fellow campers, such as requests to carpool to or from camp. Only registered campers can send email messages to this list. * If you have not already done so, please verify your information online at http://AmWeek.org/Campers Log in using the email address you gave us with your registration, and the password we emailed to you. If you don't have that password, don't worry; you can click the "forgot password" link and choose a new password. If that doesn't work, please send me email (amweek-manager-at-bacds.org) or call me (650-670-2063 mobile) and I'll set your password and email address to something that you know. Unless you tell us otherwise, your name, address, phone number, and email address will be included in the camper roster which is given to all AmWeek attendees. If you do NOT want one or more of those bits of information included, be sure that your preference is correctly indicated in your online registration information. * IMPORTANT DEADLINE: if you have dietary allergies or restrictions (real issues, not just menu preferences, please!) you MUST make sure we know about it before June 15. That's when we finalize the menu plans with the camp chef. After June 15, your options are severely limited. * All campers are expected to help out by signing up for one or more chores at camp. Sliding Scale Campers are expected to sign up for at least two chores, and Youth Sliding Scale Campers are required to be at camp by 1:00pm Sunday to help with setting up camp, and to be available to help with camp takedown on Friday afternoon. That's how the "Work Trade" scholarship works. Please be sure to make your travel plans appropriately. We count on you to help make camp happen. * We're nearing a filled-to-capacity camp. If you have friends who want to come to AmWeek but have not yet signed up, tell them they're about out of time. The doors will close soon, and we expect to have a waiting list. There are always some last-minute cancellations because of personal or family issues, so it's still possible for someone on the waiting list to get that happy phone call telling them to pack for camp. But time waits for no dancer. Tell them to sign up NOW, before someone else lines up ahead of them. * The camp Schedule Grid is online at http://AmWeek.org/AmWeekGrid.pdf (may be subject to minor changes, but this should be close to final). * Check the "What To Bring To Camp" list as you gather your dance duds and gear: http://AmWeek.org/Campers/GearToBring.php * Thursday is "Sparkle Night" ... * the Dress Boutique will be at camp to help you find sparkling attire, swirly skirts, flowery shirts, and colorful changes of clothing. Even dancers afflicted with a Y chromosome can find lots of goodies! * We fund the Sliding Scale Scholarship with fundraising activities including the Dress Boutique, Waltz CD sales, and the Live Auction and Silent Auction. Bring items to donate for the auctions. It's a great chance to show off your stuff and score some great stuff. Popular items in the past include: unique collectibles, CHOCOLATE, records/CDs, candles, dance-related memorabilia, baked goods, CHOCOLATE, unusual dance clothing, CHOCOLATE, humorous T-shirts, ... services including massages, breakfast in bed, commissioned dance or tune, a vacation stay in your home (which probably is an exotic location for someone who lives somewhere else) Oh, and did I mention CHOCOLATE? Sadly, a traditional favorite category, adult beverages such as micro-brews and boutique wines, is not allowed at camp... * don't forget to bring earrings for the traditional Earring Swap * bring a yoga mat for Laura's morning yoga session (at a civilized hour!) * reminder: the YMCA camp is smoke-free and alcohol-free. (also pet-free, alas) Watch this space for more news as camp approaches. We're very happy you are joining us at AmWeek this year! It's shaping up to be the best AmWeek we've ever had. And you'll be able to tell people that You Were There. See you soon! -Eric _______________________________________________ Amweek2013-campers mailing list Amweek2013-campers-at-bacds.org http://www.bacds.org/mailman/listinfo/amweek2013-campers
