BET--Bethany United Methodist Church, 1268 Sanchez (at Clipper), San Francisco. 2nd Saturday English dance, 7:30pm.
ECV--El Cerrito Veterans' Hall, 6401 Stockton at Kearney, El Cerrito. 2nd and 4th Sundays East Bay Square/Contra dance, 7pm
FCC--Fairfax Community Church, 2398 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., Fairfax. 4th Saturday contradances
FIN--Finn Hall, 1819 Tenth Street (near Hearst, off University), Berkeley. 2nd Friday contradances
GNC--Grace North Church, 2138 Cedar St. (near Oxford), Berkeley. Dancing every Wednesday: contras on 1st, 3rd and 5th, English on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. Also the 4th Saturday experienced English dance

Wednesday, December 1
Two dances to kick off the month on the first... a contra in Berkeley at GNC with Erik Hoffman and tunes provided by an Open Band led by Chris Knepper, Charlie Hancock & friend:

...while the English dance in San José at SJS features Alan Winston (this year's Playford Dancemaster) calling the tunes, and Kay Thorne & Stan Kramer playing them, so you can dance them.

Friday, December 3
Hey, it's the first Friday, so it's time for the downtown Palo Alto English dance at MT; series host Bob Fraley calls to the music of Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer, Mark Daly and Paul Kostka) .

Saturday, December 4
BACDS' 13th annual No Snow Ball, at a --a new location! Dress in your winter finery (or come as you are and contra the night away to the calls of Santa Claus & Tom Snowby with The Five Scrooges (Ray Bierl, Kevin Carr, Paul Kotapish, Daniel Stei berg & Cathie Whitesides). The dance lasts from 7:30PM to 11:30PM, special admission of $17/$14 includes buffet.

Wednesday, December 8
The second Wednesday Berkeley English dance at GNC featuring series host David Newitt teaching the dances, with music by Chuck Ward, Judy Linsenberg, & friend.

Friday, December 10
It's the 19th anniversary of the Friday night Berkeley contra! Join the celebration at FIN, with caller Kirston Koths with music by The Billies (Ray Bierl, Kevin Carr, Paul Kotapish, & Daniel Steinberg).

Saturday, December 11
[11/22] The once-a-month San Francsicon English dance takes place at BET in the Noe Valley district. Lise Dyckman calls, with music by William Allen, Jon Berger, and friend.

... while down in Palo Alto at PA, Andy Wilson calls an evening of contras with music provided by the sextet of Québecquasi (Kevin Carr, John Hamstra, Caroline Cirimele, Barbara Mendelsohn, Laurie Rivin, Daniel Steinberg).

Sunday, December 12
& Second Sunday Squares in El Cerrito--at ECV, Erik Hoffman serves up the squares and contras, with fine music by Luceo (Lee Anne Welch, John Light, and Rebecca King).

Wednesday, December 15
It's a Wednesday, so there's community dance in Berkeley at GNC. Tonight's featured caller is Patti Smolian, with music by Three O'Clock Shadow (Erik Hoffman, Chris Grampp and Adam Cavan).

The first of several BACDS series' Christmas Parties--the English dance in San José at SJS, calling by Jody McGeen & friends and wonderful music by Kay Thorne & Stan Kramer. Scrumptious goodies by the dancers...

Friday, December 17
The Palo Alto English dance, downtown at MT, also has a holiday party, featuring Bob Fraley & friends with music by Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer, Mark Daly and Paul Kostka) .

Saturday, December 18
And the San Francisco contra, at SF, features Warren Blier calling with Québecquasi (Kevin Carr, John Hamstra, Caroline Cirimele, Barbara Mendelsohn, Laurie Rivin, Daniel Steinberg).

Wednesday, December 22
BACDS' final English country Christmas Party dance takes place in Berkeley at GNC. David Newitt is your caller, while Avis Minger, Danny Carnahan, are Craig Johnson are the musickers.

Friday, December 24
The 4th Friday contra at SF has been CANCELLED. Merry Christmas!

Saturday, December 25
Come contradance on Christmas in Fairfax at FCC. Series host Stuart Moody calls the montly contra with an Open Band led by Pat and Anson Young.

Or, if English is more your style, there'll be an experienced English dance at GNC, with Lise Dyckman and the amazing duet of Shira Kammen and Judy Linsenberg.

The 4th Saturday contra at PA has been CANCELLED. Merry Christmas!

Sunday, December 26
& The East Bay Square/Contra series wraps it up for the year at 7pm at ECV with Jim Saxe calling to Pipsqueak Promenade (Katherine Gardner, Dan and Karen Warrick).

Wednesday, December 29
11/22 BACDS' final contra of the year will be held at GNC, with Andy Wilson calling, to the music of Pat and Anson Young and Craig Johnson

The 5th Wednesday English dance at SJS has been CANCELLED.

Friday, December 31
The final dance of the year (and the first of next year?) is the New Year's Eve English country dance at MT, with Bob Fraley calling and music by Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer, Mark Daly and Paul Kostka) . Check back here for more details...
